Tyson Dawson is a first-year PhD student in GW’s Institute for Biomedical Sciences: Genomics and Bioinformatics program. His research interests involve the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data. He has been involved in research exploring transcriptomics in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, gut microbiome metagenomics, and machine learning with COVID-19 data.Tyson obtained his bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics with a minor in computer science from Brigham Young University where he worked in Michael Whiting’s lab studying the phylogenetics of stick insects.
